AFSP’s Marathon in a Month: 305.01 #HealingMiles in Memory of My Brother Teddy

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” ~ Harper Lee (from To Kill a Mockingbird)

Over 305.01 miles during American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Marathon in a Month, I aimed to do just that - in memory of my brother, Teddy Fusco, and others lost to suicide. To give a voice to #suicidelosssurvivors and to share our loved ones with the world. To hopefully reach even one person who feels isolated or shame or overwhelmed.

Because we are never alone ... I see you.

Thank you to all of the families who entrusted their loved ones to me for #HealingMiles suicide loss remembrance walks. You have all made a difference and touched lives in ways seen and unseen.

To the parents of the youngest for whom I’ve walked, thank you for allowing me to share your children’s stories with elected officials to advocate for K-12 suicide prevention education and training for students, parents, educators, and staff! Watch the presentation to the Taunton, MA Municipal Council with Jessica van der Stad, Area Director for the Massachusetts Chapter of AFSP (Forward to 01:17:27 to begin presentation).

Thank you to the AMAZING 194 supporters who donated an astounding $11,037. Because of you, I raised more to help AFSP than not just any individual but any TEAM during the event. Your donations account for 17% of the total amount raised during AFSP’s MIAM!

My parents and I cannot thank you all enough. Teddy’s golden heart is seen in each and every one of you.
